The Carlos museum recently made progress towards its goal of being a one-stop shop commercial center with the addition of Ebrik, a local coffeehouse. Students are excited to learn that Kaldi’s is not the only coffeehouse to exist. However, the liveliest new market of Ebrik coffee-drinkers are the mummies.
Tahat, a mummy from the 21st Dynasty in Egypt, explains, “The sweet smell of java in the morning takes me back to my time in ancient Egypt. The sound of the coffee beans being ground by unwilling workers, the smell of the drink covering up the sweat of the forced labor. It’s good to know nothing has changed.”
Tahat went on to explain his morning routine, which begins with shaking the ants from his bandages followed by a nice round of yoga on the quad. He then makes his rounds to Ebrik. “Before, I would just go and tap on the sarcophagus of my pal until he woke up. Now I can do that, but with a flaky croissant in hand.”
When asked his personal favorite choice, Tahat decided it had to be the Caramel Macchiato, but that he can’t have it often because “the maggots in my decayed stomach are lactose intolerant.”
At press time, reports indicated many newly deceased trying to bring the coffee to the afterlife with them, in the hope of bribing Anubis to tip the scale of judgement in their favor.
