In college, it is common for your friends to discover new things about themselves. For example, that they don’t really like pizza or that they take longer showers than most. However, there is one realization that many guys have during these special years in college that might be especially surprising: that they are gay! Gayer than a fruit basket. So as a gay man myself, I am here to help you out on how to adjust to your new life as a friend to a gay man with this easy to follow, 5-Step guide:
1. Be open to getting iced coffee more often!
Everyone knows The Gays love an iced coffee; even when its 28 degrees outside! Therefore, you need to get acclimated to always be ready to throw on some shoes and run to Starbucks to grab a freshly iced oat milk (also gay) latte. And if you aren’t a coffee drinker yourself, that’s okay! I love iced coffee and would always be down for a coffee shop date with your friend!
2. Start watching Gay television shows now!
There are just some shows that every gay man has watched or is watching right now. House of the Dragon? Gay. The Last of Us? Gay, go to episode 3 and see for yourself. Glee? Jesus, please don’t tell me you would assume that all gay people like Glee!? (I’ve seen it 3 times through). If you need someone to watch it with, I would be happy to do so, and maybe you can invite your cute friend who just came out.
3. Talk more about emotions with your friend!
I know us guys aren’t the best at talking about our feelings, but coming out is a really stressful process in which it’s good to keep a healthy dialogue going. Be sure to ask important questions like: Are you single? Are you interested in anyone? The author of this article is really cool and funny, and I hear he is available? Try it out yourself, and let me know how it goes!
4. Ensure that your friend is feeling confident!
Don’t let your friend be timid after they finally come into their own and start this next phase in their life! Getting out there is always a great idea; don’t let your friend be a recluse! For example, I always love to sit outside and hang out with friends on Cox Bridge from 1-3 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays and 1-2:15 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That would be a great time for you and your cute friend who just came out to stop by and chat!
5. Set him up with someone! (Maybe even the author of this article???)
Please, I am so fucking desperate at this point. This is a cry for help. I am smart, I’m loyal, I have a great sense of humor (the article above shows that)! It doesn’t have to be anything serious, just a fun and flirty thing. Please, I am begging you to set me up with your hot friend who just came out. If your friend is a girl who just came out, find a different article – sorry.
