Undergrad group messages went wild this morning after receiving an email declaring the upcoming retirement of President Claire E. Sterk. Many theories have come up as to why she would be retiring right now, but The Spoke has been ahead of the news and our investigation has finally concluded. An unnamed source has confirmed that she will become a Public Health professor next academic year to pursue her passion for teaching, as a PHP.
“I have never lost my passion for public health, and I look forward to resuming my work on some of the most important issues of our time such as the opioid crisis, access to mental health and global child health.” — PHP Claire
Sterk will remain stagnant on these issues in the classroom; however, as she must focus on how many phytonutrients first-years are getting from the DCT. Around twenty students of the class of 2024 will come into their Health 100 class without even realizing they are entering into the presence of former Emory royalty, that is until she gives a presentation on her time as President that included “achievements [that] are too numerous to list.” Tour guides are expected to begin advertising that the current president could be the prospective student’s Peer Health Partner next fall, teaching them things such as how to stand up while studying and sleep enough so they won’t get depressed.
