Outdoor Emory, one of the few clubs whose whole model is built on being outside, has recently attained all the certifications and permits necessary to offer bridge bungee jumping.
The best part of this development is that the bridge in question is Emory’s own 15 foot tall Cox Bridge. We spoke with Outdoor Emory’s Vice President of Outdoor Affairs, Violet Ophellian (22C), to learn more about the lengths they went through to offer this one of a kind experience. “We have three bungee jumping facilitators certified to operate from heights of 50-100 feet. I am one of the three members who got certified. The one interesting thing I would say is that Cox Bridge looks a lot smaller than the training simulations, but I’m sure it will be okay! I can’t wait for our first day!”
A common concern from on campus students was if the Student Activity Fee will rise to accommodate this new experience. Outdoor Emory’s Vice President of Finance, Roger McMichael (21B), informed us that the Student Activity Fee will rise by 3%, right in line with the tuition increase set for the upcoming 21-22 school year. The reasoning behind this increase is that the insurance to cover bungee jumping is extremely high.
Outdoor Emory is very excited to provide a thrill seeking alternative for the on campus Emory community. Sign up today as spots are limited.
