Dear Dooley, With Halloweekend coming, I really wanted to do a couples’ costume with my boyfriend, since it is our first Halloween together. He shuts down all the costume ideas. He is allergic to peanut butter, so peanut butter and jelly hits too close to home. He said the plug and outlet costume is too overused. He’s never seen Ratatouille, so that costume isn’t an option. Every single idea I bring up is too boring or too difficult. So finally, exasperated, I asked him, “So what do you want to do?!” The dorm room creaked open and Bryan, my boyfriend’s best friend, walked in. My boyfriend’s eyes lit up. Bryan walked over and kissed my boyfriend on the cheek before sitting practically on his lap. “What if we do the Challengers throuple costume?” he said, looking between the two of us, licking his lips. He sounded giddy, nervous, which confused me, since he barely sounded interested in doing a couples’ costume in the first place. Over the past month, he kept canceling our dates to play tennis with Bryan, and I’ve been feeling really left out. Now I don’t know why they want to do this costume with me. I don’t even like tennis! When I tried to shoot the idea down, my boyfriend said they could do it without me. Dooley, what should I do? Concerned,
Confused Girlfriend
